A sad Story.. =(
From Wee Wee's blog..Reading it reminds me of this saying for my platoon.
For brothers in arms,
Friends for life,
Semper Fi (Always Faithful),
Do or die..
Gung Ho Gung Ho Gung Ho!!
The frost settled on the window, as she sat in her armchair in front of the fire. The gentle crackle of the flaking wood calmed her nerves, and allowed her to keep her fingers steady enough to complete the finishing touches of the bear. The needle flew in and out of the soft saffron fabric she had chosen for the little toy, the shape of a red heart slowly emerging from the fibres as she stitched. 'He would have to leave soon,' she reminded myself.
'Should I wake the children?' She glanced across at the clock; four-thirty. She dithered over her dilemma.
'They should really say goodbye. Would it be too upsetting? Would it be easier to tell them that "Daddy’s gone on holiday?" rather than tell them that he’d gone to fight? Should a mother always tell her children the truth? Or would they be too young to understand?'
"Ow" she cried, withdrawing the shiny needle from her thumb. A pinprick of blood trickled out of the wound, leaving her thumb sore and dull. She completed the final loving stitch and stabbed the needle back into her pincushion. She checked the pot of porridge steaming on the hob, set a bowl and spoon out on the kitchen table. A clatter on the stairs announced Timothy’s arrival. He looked so solemn, walking across the room in his uniform, his backpack bulging with anything that connected him to his life at home. In silence they gazed at each other. Part of her wanted to rush to him and hug him and never let go, but another part knew he would never rest until he had served his country. He would not be content to sit at home, waiting for the attack to come. He had always been the one to want to change the world, not watch and wait for the world to change him.
"Porridge, dear?" she asked, trying to save her own pain, and lighten the atmosphere of the dull kitchen. The oil lamp flickered reassuringly, as she gestured to the bubbling pot on the stove. He shook his head.
"Sorry, love. I don’t think there’s time. My train leaves soon." He smiled, despite his pallid complexion, and this warmed her heart. The dark shadows danced around them, as they stood in the silence, drowned in their own sorrow.
"I looked in on Matthew, he was sound asleep. Thought its best not to wake him" she nodded, searching for something to say.
Suddenly she remembered the little bear she’d left in the armchair. She rushed over, picked it up and thrust it into his burly hands. "To remember us by." she stuttered. "Me, and Matthew and little baby here." she rubbed her bulging stomach as he smiled wanly, a tear forming in his eye. His own hand joined hers, and stroked her abdomen like there was nothing more beautiful in the world.
"Look after her for me" he grinned.
"You sure it’s a her?"
"Oh, definitely" he chuckled. "We’ve got my Mr Muscles upstairs, so now we’re going to have your little sunshine!"
She laughed through her own tears, and then suddenly threw her arms around his neck. He hugged her tighter, and she prayed he’d never let go, that he’d always be there to hold her and keep her safe. The bear was dropped to the floor as his arms melted into her skin, and his lips caressed her cheek and her lips. Finally he whispered, "I’ve got to go now." He drew back, smiling, and wiped the tears from her cheeks. He picked up the little golden bear, and made it wave goodbye, the final one. She smiled again, as he pecked her on the cheek. "I love you", he murmured. He walked across to the door, still clutching the little bear. As the door opened and he sidestepped through it, she called out, "Come back soon."
"I will," he promised. And then he was gone...

Winter Moonlight
The snow, so peaceful and serene,
caressed by the soft moonlight,
gave magical feelings to the night.
The soft blue glow, the lovers' words that then did flow,
their lips closer and closer until,
locked in the throesof a passionate embrace,
he decided to express his feelings,to keep her safe.
He whispered softly,
his words like music to her ears,
"I Love You,"
and her response the same,
heard like the gentle breeze,
"And I, love you, forever."
That was the night they promised
to be together through everything,
each to care for the other when old and gray
A lovers' pact the most likely to last.

Shadows in my mind
by LuciDreamerEmptiness and chaos is all I found.
When I walked the corridors of my mind.
I looked for a way out.
Blackness is all I saw.
Alone in fear.
Does anyone care?
Walls of solitude.
Bound me in chains.
There’s no door or window.
To escape.
I yell…I scream.
No one comes.
I’m destine to live.
To dwell.
In the shadows.
Of my mind.
